A Taste from Himachal: Colonel's Shaan-E Himachal, Serving You Since 1998

COLONEL'S  SHAAN-E-HIMACHAL came into existence in and around October 1998 on a guide decision by team of Col G S HUNDAL who had retired from the Indian Army and his Elder Son SAMRAT HUNDAL and the buoying up of Prof Karamjit Singh COL HUNDAL’S Father. The team came into action mode and went all the way to Delhi to buy the best equipment required for making this idea a reality.

After almost a month of sleepless nights and hardships, the idea soon became a reality and on 19th October 1998  Colonel’s Shaan-E-Himachal came into existence .

Colonel Saab had lots of experience in food production due to his keen interest towards cooking + his exposure to arranging Big parties in the army was a major plus point.

Teething problems

Initially an immense shortage of staff was faced due to it being a rickety sector in those days and the market was already reigned by the iconic GIANI DA DHABA just opposite. But giving up was never an option .

AND AFTER THAT THERE WAS NO LOOKING BACK TO THE SUCCESS OF COLONEL’S SHAAN-E-HIMACHAL.

AND TO THIS DAY WE ARE GROWING AND ADVANCING TO PROVIDE THE BEST TO OUR ESTEEMED COSTUMERS

Only Child of Well educated parents mother a graduate father Professor of English literature at Delhi university, later growing commercial cut flowers, expert in "Kite flying" in School to India No2 in Junior all India badminton. Played with the best players in India as well as in the world.

To now being an entrepreneur and a chef at COLONEL’S SHAAN-E-HIMACHAL since 1998 after my retirement .

To still cooking and loving my passion all through. I would say that I have lived a fulfilled life and have done almost everything that I ever wanted.

I would say best of luck to my son Samrat and grandson Daksh for the years ahead and they still push me to devote more of my time at Colonel’s Shaan-e-Himachal

To having two abroad postings which if you ask someone who is from the army, is very rare

To teaching the new officers ELECTRONICS even when I was from the English literature background and even making flower

To being a star kid with the professor in Punjab university

To Joining India Army in 1969 after a lot of efforts of making my mother to agree to it

To being the go to officer for arranging party all through my years in the army. I would have to say that those were the days because I suggest that army life is the best life one could have it makes you tough but also teaches you a lot of things and I adored that
